When I first saw some of the photos for this latest customer submission, I could not wait to share them! Marisa and Mike, new parents to a baby girl, wanted to design a gender neutral nursery since they were planning on the gender of their child being a surprise. They picked the theme of “forest friends,” and decided to use our Kids Tree giant wall decals on the walls. But they didn’t use just one tree… they used three!

Since we wanted to be surprised by the gender of our baby, we decided to go with the gender neutral theme of “forest friends.” To do so, we painted the room 3/4ths of the way down in a sky blue, and 1/4th of the way up grass green to prepare the foundation for our forest.
We purchased three of the RoomMates “Kids Tree” wall decals and decided to put them throughout the room… each with a 3D element. Since we weren’t sure whether the baby was going to be a boy or girl, we put up the trees and left the butterflies aside (for the time being).
Here are two photos of the finished room:
Now let’s get a better look at those trees! As Marisa says, each of the tree wall decals was given a special 3D element. Here are her comments about the purpose of each tree:
Tree #1 is what we call the “Family Tree.” […] I got a few simple frames at the craft store and voila, family tree! We plan on updating the tree periodically with new photos. Tree #2 has a real birdhouse mounted to the trunk. We were able to fit a tap light in the opening, turning the birdhouse into a fun night light.
Tree #3 we saved to add the baby’s initials to the tree. So we cut out a small white heart (from the white liner left over from the decal) and added her initials. We were also able to add a little girl in a swing from one of the branches. The doll was actually mine when I was little so it added a nice touch. I hid the nail by cutting a slit in one of the leaves.
Here are close-up photos of each tree, starting with #1, the “family tree”:
Next is #2, with the birdhouse and night light (don’t you love the detail of the bird decal sitting on top?):
And finally, here’s #3, with the swing and baby’s initials added to the trunk:
All in all, this is an absolutely adorable nursery! The combination of paint, additional “forest friend” wall stickers, and the three unique trees make this a very special place for Marisa and Mike’s daughter. I have a feeling she’ll love staring at the walls of her nursery as she grows!
Thanks so much to Marisa for sending in her photos. I hope you all enjoyed seeing them as much as I did!
