Last month we talked about some of our new foam wall decals and other “off-the-wall” options that let you see your wall decor in 3D. We’re continuing the trend by introducing something even more exciting: augmented reality wall decals!
If you’re not familiar with the concept of augmented reality, here’s a really simple explanation. To experience AR, you hold a tablet or smartphone up to an image, and the device in your hands displays an interactive game, graphic, or video. Sounds easy, right? We think so!
We partnered with our friends at BoostAR to introduce the first line of six AR-enabled Disney wall decals. If you’ve been in Wal-Mart recently, you may have seen signs for their Avengers experience, which allows shoppers to pose with their favorite Avenger using the BoostAR app and a simple display graphic. They also have an Avengers superhero app that allows you to complete missions and play interactive games, which is really cool! So we were really excited to have the opportunity to work with BoostAR on our AR wall decals.
RoomMates AR, as we’re calling it, is currently available on six Disney wall decals. To experience it for yourself, you’ll need the following:
- An Apple or Android powered smartphone or tablet
- The BoostAR app (available here for Apple users, or here for Android users)
- One of the six wall decals on this page
If you already have one of the six AR-enabled designs, there’s nothing new to buy: you can try RoomMates AR right away! Just download the app, pick your design, and watch your walls come to life.

Each RoomMates AR-enabled design has its own fun feature. You can play a game with the Phineas and Ferb designs, or use an interactive drum kit with Animal. It’s a lot of fun!
