One of my favorite things about Pinterest is that it makes it extremely easy to share a collection of photos or ideas with a group of people—and not just friends and family, but the rest of the world. In Misty’s case, she used one of her boards on Pinterest to share photos from her son’s jungle-themed bedroom. This room is really unique for a number of reasons, but we are beyond thrilled to have been part of her design process!
Misty’s “Jungle Themed Toddler Room” board, which you can see here on Pinterest, has multiple photos documenting how she transformed her young son’s bedroom into a jungle-themed paradise. When Misty started the design process, she had a clear goal in mind, but her budget was tight, and she was limited only to materials that would not change or damage the walls in any way. Sounds like a perfect fit for RoomMates, right?
Misty wrote us:
Your decals were sooooo easy to use and put up. I consider myself one who moves too fast and makes more mistakes than if I was to take my time. With your decals, it was like they were meant for me. I could put them up, reposition them, and even cut them while they were on the wall.
There are a lot of photos that we could share of this superb room, but here are just a few:
What a creative room! As you can see from the photos, Misty combined many different elements to create the perfect jungle-themed room for her son. Everything she used is removable, from the bamboo wall matting to the grass border to the Curious George giant wall decal above her son’s bed. There are also some really interesting touches here, like the tree in the corner of the room that has a hidden light mounted at the top. About her experience with planning and decorating this room, Misty told us:
The sky is the limit. You can do whatever you want. I caught myself saying, “well, is it normal to have a tree growing up your child’s wall and on the ceiling? Is it normal to have bamboo matting around your child’s room?” It doesn’t matter, because as long as you’re happy when you walk in the room and your kid jumps around so excited that he’s in a jungle, then it’s normal and worth it.
But wait… there’s more to this story! On the opposite wall of her son’s room, Misty used some additional RoomMates products to cover the blank space. Since her husband is a pilot, she was inspired to use our Vintage Planes wall decals in combination with some other crafty ideas and existing wall decor to create a scene of planes flying above a jungle. Here’s one of the photos she sent us:

This might be the craftiest part of the whole room, and here’s why: when she decided that she wanted to create the illusion of a plane “pulling” the existing picture on the wall as a banner, she turned to the liners that came with her Vintage Planes wall decals. She cut the liners into strips and painted them blue, and once the paint was dry, applied them to the wall. On the other side of the picture, she created custom “banners” on printable Avery sheets, then stuck them to the wall as well. Isn’t this cool? I really love how much Misty thought outside the box when creating the perfect room for her son—many of these are ideas I haven’t seen before, and the fact that they’re all removable means the walls won’t be damaged or need repainted in a few years.
You can find the whole story of how this jungle-themed bedroom came together on Misty’s Pinterest. (And while you’re at it, why not follow RoomMates on Pinterest, too?) Thanks so much to Misty for sharing all of her photos and great ideas with us!
