Today we’re going to learn how to use these unique decals to create a “headboard” for your bed…right on the wall! This decor idea is a quick, easy and economical way to satisfy your craving for a creative touch in the bedroom. Plus, with this headboard, there’s never the risk of bumping your head on it in the middle of the night! Your RoomMates wall decor headboard will last you years, won’t cost a fortune, and can be removed whenever you’re ready for a change. Also, if you've been creative with RoomMates, we would absolutely love to see it!

What you’ll need:

  • Three (or more) packs of our Trellis wall decals
  • A smooth, clean, and dry area above your bed
  • Ruler, yardstick, or measuring tape
  • Pencil (optional)
  • About 15-20 minutes

As seen in the May 2010 issue of Good Housekeeping!

You can do some great things with just one pack of two wall decals, but the creative possibilities expand tremendously with two or more packs of decals.

How to accomplish this design:

Clean

1. Clean the wall

Make sure the area above the bed is free of dirt and dust.

We do not recommend applying RoomMates to textured walls. If the wall has been recently painted, please allow at least a week for the paint to “cure” before applying any decals.

Measure

2. Measure

Use your ruler or measuring tape to find the center of the area above your bed. A single Trellis decal measures about 18 in (45.7 cm) on each side. Two are included in each pack.

You may want to make light pencil marks on the wall where you would like each Trellis to be placed.

3. Apply

To create the “headboard” effect, apply your Trellis decals, working your way out from the center line. Create as many columns of two as you need to span the width of your bed. If you want a really tall headboard, you could stack three together!

Each Trellis decal comes pre-cut, and uses a specially formulated adhesive that allows them to be repositioned on the wall. Don’t worry about getting everything “perfect” on the first try.

Now step back to admire your handiwork. Smooth out any air bubbles and reposition your decals as necessary. Wasn’t that easy? Now you have a fun, creative headboard design that is bound to charm your family.
