Cate's Creative Lazy Susans

Chefs Wall Decals

We love seeing all the creative things our customers do with RoomMates. Sometimes what we see surprises us, and we were quite surprised (and excited) when we received Cate's e-mail. Cate used our Chefs Wall Decals and Wine Tasting Wall Decals to decorate some Lazy Susans she'd purchased. While we've already mentioned using RoomMates on walls or furniture, this was a new idea that we just adored! Cate writes:

I bought the Lazy Susans already assembled, they are a bamboo wood. It's so easy to just peel and stick your products onto the wood, and if you have to reposition them, it's not hard to remove them and do that. I bought a very thick glaze that you can get at most hardware stores. Putting the glaze on takes the most time, you have to mix it up and then pour it on the middle of the wood [...] You only have about a half hour or so before the glaze starts to harden. The whole process really only takes about 30 minutes.

It surprised us to learn just how quickly this project could be completed. Cate advises that she needed to wait at least two days before using the Lazy Susans, but after that, the glaze was completely hardened and the decals were set in place. Here are some snapshots of the finished products!

Aren't the completed Lazy Susans beautiful? The glaze seems to make the decals look like they are printed directly onto the wood—you can't tell that they were once wall stickers! Although this is a practical solution for simple decorating in the kitchen, we think this would be a great gift idea, too. You could also use some of our seasonal wall decals on a Lazy Susan to create a unique piece of holiday decor, or make one suitable for every season, and switch them out as needed. If you have leftover decals once you've finished decorating your kitchen, consider using the extras for a project like this. Wouldn't our Glitter Snowflakes Wall Decals look just lovely as accents in the winter?

Thanks again to Cate for sending in these great pictures, and a truly creative decorating idea!

Oh my goodness...I am going to try this on my wooden kitchen table. Could you tell me more about this glaze...name? Is it just polyurethane?

Marcella,

I can't remember the name of the glaze, but I did buy it at Lowes.  It comes in a plastic bottle, very, very, thick.  At the time, they only had one like it.  Putting the glaze on is the hardest part, you have to blow on it to get the bubbles out.  Good luck!  Neat idea putting on your kitchen table.
